From the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act:

Banks and other financial institutions may be allowed access to specific limited information from the seed-to-sale tracking system. The information that may be available to these institutions shall be limited to financial data of individuals and business entities that have a business relationship with these institutions. This information shall be limited to the information needed for banks to comply with applicable federal regulations and shall not disclose any medical or personal information about registered cardholders or designated caregivers.

SECTION 27:

Banks to be held harmless. (1) A bank may provide any services to any person or entity licensed in this state to engage in the business of medical cannabis, or with any person or entity engaging in business dealings with such licensee, if the bank provides those services to any other business.

(2) A bank and its officers, directors, agents and employees shall not be held liable pursuant to any state law or regulation solely for:

(a) Providing financial services to a licensed medical cannabis establishment; or

(b) Investing any income derived from providing financial services to a licensed medical cannabis establishment.

(3) Nothing in this section shall require a bank to provide financial services to a licensed medical cannabis establishment.

Municipal Restrictions

  • Mississippi’s Medical Marijuana industry is taking shape following the passing of SB 2095, which was signed into law on February 2nd, 2022. 

Purchase Limits

  • Medical Marijuana amounts are measured in Mississippi Medical Cannabis Equivalency Units or MMCEU’s.
    • One Unit of MMCEU is considered equal to:
      • Three and one-half (3.5) grams of medical cannabis flower;
      • One (1) gram of medical cannabis concentrate; or
      • One hundred (100) milligrams of THC in an infused product
  • Resident cardholders are allowed up to a total of six (6) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis per week, with a maximum of twenty-four (24) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis in thirty (30) days
  • The possession limit for resident cardholders is twenty-eight (28) MMCEUs. There is no possession limit on non-consumable medical cannabis, including, but not limited to, suppositories, ointments, soaps, and lotions or other topical agents.
  • Nonresident cardholders cannot obtain more than a total of six (6) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis in a week, nor can a nonresident cardholder obtain more than a total of twelve (12) MMCEUs of allowable cannabis in a fifteen-day period.
  • The possession limit of the allowable amount of medical cannabis for nonresident cardholders shall be fourteen (14) MMCEUs
